Jamie Grimm, the stand-up comedian who can't stand up because he is in s wheelchair, is back at school on sabbatical only to find out that his middle school has a brand new principal and vice principal. This is definitely not a good thing as the principal is more of a coach focused on supporting the new wrestling team than anything else. This takes a sad twist when the principal, who doesn't believe that anyone needs a library at school anymore, decides he wants to close the library and convert Jamie Grimm, the stand-up comedian who can't stand up because he is in s wheelchair, is back at school on sabbatical only to find out that his middle school has a brand new principal and vice principal. Jamie and his friends decide they are going to do everything they can to save the library. That includes Jamie offering classes on stand-up after school. This proves to be a struggle, but they aren't going to give up.

This definitely has everything that have made Jamie's earlier adventures so much fun.

It was a good book, but if they write another, I won't be reading it. Honestly, if this WAS the much needed ending of the series, I'd say they ended it on a good note. My only personal complaint is that-maybe it's just me- the jokes aren't laugh out loud funny. Sure, they make me smile, but not laugh. Yes, ''you funny'' but no, you not the funniest kid o the planet. I rated this book a 5 star because it was very funny and descriptive. The part that I liked most was when Jamie Grimms uncle likes the school librarian a lot and try's to act all fancy by wearing a suit and also changes his restaurant to a very fancy. But the librarian walks into the restaurant and doesn't recolonize it so she say oops wrong place and walks out. I rated this book a 5 star because it was very funny and descriptive. Again, the students love these, but I find them utterly depressing. The cousin is quite over the top with his bullying, but why would Jamie then tweak his cousin?

This book was amazing with twist and turns at every flip of a page. I love Jamie's optimistic attitude and how he is always joking around. This book is a very good book, it is easy to read yet very deep. I think you should read this book if you need a laugh or a great story. This book is the last is #5 in the series, so read the first four before this one. This book was amazing with twist and turns at every flip of a page. This was an extremely funny book that highlights the good in bad moments. With Jamie in a wheelchair from a car crash that killed his family, he learns that in hard times you should always find a way to smile and laugh. So when Jamie becomes famous and gets his own TV show people tell him to do a class on how to make jokes like him. He even gets the school bully (his godbrother) to join the class. This is an amazing read, highly reccomended.

I liked this book because not only did it teach you something it was also funny and exciting. The lesson it taught or the theme is that everything you do can help or benefit someone else. I know this because in the book Jamie creates classes and comedy shows to help raise money for the library and to help get more people to use the library. Jamie also uses his comedic ways to help get Stevie Kosgrov away from bullying kids and get him to try and become a comedian.

His uncle Frankie gives him many Ideas on how to solve the problem but when he finds his long lost friend, he gets it. A comedy show for the world's best child comedian. But that does not raise enough money to save the library, so Jamie puts on a class to teach kids about comedy. The kids love it and go every day until they get stopped by a big bully named Steve and never come again. But Jamie learns will not give up until he finds a way to get the library back and save the school.
The book IFunny School of Laughs is a great example of realistic fiction. I think this because the book has a common theme that most other realistic fiction books have; which is to never give up on something because it will come to you eventually. You can see this when the books states,"The library is saved"; this shows that Jamie has been working really hard to save the library and he keeps working till he gets it. Another example is that IFunny has a very common setting that goes through out realistic fiction; everyday places. This is seen in the book when it states,"Um, I say to the new vice principal, aren't you going to give those eight grade bullies a detention for picking on that six grader?". This shows that they are at a school because they talk about bullying and different students. So that means that they are at a everyday place because a lot of the kids and young adults go to school almost every day. Overall, I think that IFunny School of Laughs is a well-written example of realistic fiction.
I enjoyed this book because it made you smile the whole time you read it and it teaches a great story. I think people who enjoy realistic fiction would like this book because it is a great example of a story that has a character that does something that could happen, but does not in the real world. So if you are looking for a great book to read, pick up the IFunny School of laughs and start reading it today.

I want to hate James Patterson, but then he does something good like give books to libraries, or help independent booksellers, or this series.

Another entertaining tale about Jamie Grimm and his experiences as a kid comic. While this one is brief (you can read it in minutes), it has a morale about teaching. Demonstrate, not lecture. Sounds easy but not so easy to do when when is teaching a longer class than Jamie was teaching about comedy. Yes, Jamie is on a mission to save the library in his school which means he is 'encouraged' to teach a class about how to do comedy to his friends. I didn't like this book as much as the rest in the series. Maybe I've matured or something but I didn't find any of the jokes very "funny". The only two I enjoyed were when Jamie said that he could write five books about his life and the Space Invaders reference. And those were on the same page! Anyway, the plot was incredibly cliche (Crazy teacher? Love interest? Jamie making a mistake? Another love interest? Oh wow!) and the chapters were just a pain to get through. No spoilers, but some of Gilda's dialogue made me cringe. The fact that "books are good" was being pushed into our brains was a little sloppy in my opinion as well, but I do like the message. The twist at the end involving a certain family member genuinely made me smile, though.

Overall, I liked the concept, but the generic style of this book didn't flow right with me. If you liked the style of the series before, you should enjoy School of Laughs. However, if you're expecting a brand-new idea with this edition, I would recommend reading something else.

Jamie Grimm's show is on hiatus, so he returns to school to find they have a new Principal, who wants to close down the school's library and use it for the Wrestling team! Tragic.

Anyway, if the Library isn't being used much, it will be closed. The gang has come up with plans to save the library, including having Jamie run a class teaching other kids how to do stand up! Many forces are arrayed against Jamie so this is his toughest challenge yet. This touched me on a visceral level, so I really loved it.

Ok, Patterson, you got me. You were clearly courting the librarian vote here and it worked. Which is not to say that your many many grants to school libraries and teachers haven't been helpful as well on that account.

And kudos for making this book, about saving a school library, also include library research. I was getting a little worried about plot resolution for awhile as it just didn't seem very well developed, but the whole story came together by the end.

This isn't Diary of a Wimpy Kid, by any means, but a good read-alike. Enough action, short sentences, and corny jokes to keep kids reading to the end.

James Patterson is the world's bestselling author and most trusted storyteller. He has created more enduring fictional characters than any other novelist writing today, with his Alex Cross, Michael Bennett, Women's Murder Club, Private, NYPD Red, Daniel X, Maximum Ride, and Middle School series. He has sold over 380 million books worldwide and currently holds the Guinness World Record for the most #1 New York Times bestsellers. In addition to writing the thriller novels for which he is best known, among them The President Is Missing with President Bill Clinton, Patterson also writes fiction for young readers of all ages, including the Max Einstein series, produced in partnership with the Albert Einstein Estate. He is also the first author to have #1 new titles simultaneously on the New York Times adult and children's bestseller lists.

The son of an insurance salesman and a schoolteacher, Patterson grew up in Newburgh, New York, and began casually writing at the age of nineteen. In 1969, he graduated from Manhattan College. He was given a full-ride scholarship to Vanderbilt University's graduate program in English. He left Vanderbilt before getting his PhD due to complications involving the Vietnam War.

Instead, he moved to New York to become a junior copywriter for the advertising agency J. Walter Thompson, eventually becoming CEO of its North American company.

In 1976, while still working for J. Walter Thompson, Patterson published his first novel, The Thomas Berryman Number, with Little, Brown and Company. After being turned down by thirty-one publishers, it won the Edgar Award for Best First Novel. Patterson's 1993 novel, Along Came a Spider, his first book to feature Alex Cross, was also his first New York Times bestseller in fiction.

In 2001, Morgan Freeman starred as Alex Cross in a film adaptation of Along Came a Spider, and Tyler Perry also played the character in the 2012 film Alex Cross. A film adaptation of Patterson's middle-grade novel Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life was released in theaters in October 2016.

James Patterson has donated more than one million books to students, focusing on some of the most under-resourced schools and youth programs in the country. To date, he has donated $7.25 million to school and classroom libraries throughout the United States, and $2.1 million to independent bookstores and employees.

Patterson has recently donated over $35 million to his and his wife's alma maters—the University of Wisconsin, Vanderbilt University, and Manhattan College—and he has established over four hundred Teacher and Writer Education Scholarships at twenty-one colleges and universities throughout the country. Patterson has also donated more than one million books to U.S. soldiers at home and overseas.

In May 2015, Patterson launched a children's book imprint at Little, Brown—JIMMY Patterson—that is unwaveringly focused on one goal: turning kids into lifelong readers. This imprint also provides resources, strategies, and programs to serve teachers, parents, librarians, and booksellers. Patterson invests proceeds from the sales of JIMMY Patterson Books in pro-reading initiatives.

Patterson also founded ReadKiddoRead.com, a website designed to help parents, teachers, and librarians ignite a new generation's excitement for reading. Awarded the National Book Foundation's Innovations in Reading Prize and the American Library Association's Great Websites for Kids, the site features thoughtful book reviews from a variety of genres and age ranges, a large and lively Facebook community, and contributions from other authors.
